Albatross: the reliable thoroughbred of Bynolyt
For many years, the Albatross binoculars have been a solid and reliable workhorse under all circumstances for many satisfied users. Although the binoculars have already delivered great technical and optical results, this was no reason for the Albatross constructors to sit still. They have succeeded in improving the Albatrosses in many ways: more solid, more user-friendly and even better optically.
The beautiful and strong streamlined body is covered with a smart looking green hard rubber covering, which feels nice in your hands and protects the binoculars against bumping and falling. The binoculars lie stable and well-balanced in your hand, which is important for optimal viewing pleasure. The large central optical tube is situated on exactly the right spot. Moreover, it rotates smoothly, even in frosty weather. The large ribs provide strong grip even while wearing thick gloves. The 42 mm and 32 mm models correct the difference in strength between both eyes by rotating the ring under the right eye piece. The two smaller models (8x21 and 10x25) can do the same thing but these models have a rotating button at the front of the central optical shaft. The eye piece hoods can be twisted in and out for spectacle wearers while they can be fixed with a click mechanism. The eye relief is large enough for all Albatrosses to give spectacle wearers access to the full field view.
Do you have to work under very wet circumstances? No problem, the Albatrosses are absolutely waterproof so you don’t have to be scared for future climate changes: the Albatross will help you through. A foggy image will not happen to you with the Albatross because they are filled with dry nitrogen gas against internal moisture in the optics. The color rendering of the Albatross is breathtakingly beautiful. This is the case because the objectives of the 42 and 32 mm models have at least one ED element (ED stands for Extra low Dispersion or Extra low color selection). This results in barely any color mistakes: color edges belong to the past.
The Albatrosses have a beautiful slim body because they are provided with so-called Schmidt roof prisms which are very compact. To bring the image sharpness and light transparency of these prisms to an optimum, they are provided with very high-quality coatings by the constructors. For optimal light transparency the so-called phase correcting coatings are used. These coatings make sure that a point is actually displayed as a point. For optimal light transparency the so-called SHR (Super High Reflection) coatings are used. This coating is a 60 layer coating which causes the light that falls on the prism face with that coating to turn into a perfect mirror so that reflection light will not be wasted before the viewers’ image. SHR coatings ensure that the actual brightness of binoculars with Schmidt roof prisms is heightened, so that the exit pupil of the binoculars can be used optimally. In addition, the lenses of the binoculars are provided with multi-layer coatings and rock solid, scratch-proof plasma coatings for optimal brightness. Due to the quality of the optics and the coatings, the Albatross binoculars deliver a sparkling clear image because up till 94% of the incident light escapes from the binoculars and that is a top achievement.
Which Albatross should you choose? This depends on your wishes and demands. If you work under dusky circumstances, the bright 8x42ED will be of great assistance. Do you wish to look in the compound eyes of a mosquito on a 2 km distance, the 10x magnification would be a good choice. The 8x42 and the 10x42 both have a built-in tripod connection which offers optimal stability (star observations). Don’t forget about the “small” 8x models. The 8x32 ED is, for instance, an all-rounder for mountaineers and people who cannot enlarge their eye pupil for more than 4mm (above 50) and it is also handy if you need a large field view. If you need a lot of light, the 8x21 and the 10x25 Albatrosses are obvious choices.
But no matter which Albatross you choose: they are all solid and reliable quality binoculars that will never let you down.
All models are delivered with belt and case.
